Arriving in the 16th century in India, the three centuries of Mughal rule saw the erection of many monuments in India. The city was founded by Mughal Emperor Akbar as the capital city in 1571 after the second birthday of his son Jahangir who was born in Sikri village. Being the capital for 10 years, the city was abandoned at the start of the 17th century due to Mughal campaign in Punjab. After the Mughals abandoned it, in the 19th century, the city saw news guests in form of the British. After their arrival, British regime renovated the abandoned city to its former glory. Even 400 years after it was founded, the city still has managed to preserve its vintage charm and royal heritage.

Declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in India in the year 1986, Fatehpur Sikri with its grand monuments still narrates the tales of its glory days.
