VATTAKOTTAI FORT

  • Resting along the coast of the Bay of Bengal, the Vattakotai Fort is a must-visit attraction on Kanyakumari. One of the last coastal forts constructed by the rulers of the Travancore Kingdom, it dates back to the 18th century. Constructed under the supervision of an ex-Dutch naval officer, today the fort protected under the archaeological department of India. Built of solid stone, the fort comprises watch towers, weapon rooms and resting rooms. It goes without saying that the architectural grandeur of the fort makes for a must visit to this place.
