Mithranandapuram Vamanamoorthy Temple Kerala

Mithranandapuram Vamanamoorthy Temple is an old temple situated in Peruvanam Gramam in the Trichur or Thrissur District of Kerala. This amazingly designed temple is dedicated to Lord Vamana, the fifth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, whose idol is believed to be 1500 years old. The Vamanamoorthy Temples are rare in Kerala as well as in other parts of the country, so a lot of people from different parts of the city and other countries visit this mighty place to seek the blessings of Lord Vamana.

HISTORY

If the legends are to be believed, the idol worshipped in the temple is more than 1500 years old and its age is calculated on the basis of the Malayalam recital "Ayathu Sivalokam" depicted in the nearby Arattupuzha temple. There are other deities present in the temple, among whom, Ganesha is positioned on the south, Swamiyar is seated at south east, and Annapoorneswari is seated in the north east pillar. The main festival of this temple is Sampoorna Yajurveda Yajna or Othu Kottu, which is celebrated in every three years in the months of July to November.

OTHER FACTS

The temple is open from 5:30 AM to 10:30 AM and 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM all days. It is owned by three Uranmakkar (people who have a right on the temple), that is Alakkattu Mana, Pattachomarayath Mana, and Akkarachittur Mana.
