This 12th century temple is considered to be the oldest and sacred temples of Kerala and is built by Swamy Thirumulapad, the Zamorin King, within his palace complex. Some historians believe that the temple was most likely built during the foundation of the city itself in the 12th century or before. The stupendous architecture of the temple and its meticulous designing makes it a unique piece of structure with its sanctorum built in the shape of a chariot and murals painted all over the walls.
