Dhekiakhowa Bornamghar Jorhat
Established by saint cum reformer Madhavdeva, Dhekiakhowa Bornamghar is a famous namghar in Jorhat district of Assam. It was established in the year 1461, he kindled an earthen lamp and it has been burning till today, with the help of the priests who religiously refuel it, as and when required.
It has a large campus and is one of the oldest namghars in the Assam. Namghar literally meaning Name House, which is associated with a religion named Ekasarana in the state of Assam. It is their congregational place of worship.
The namghar is spread over a land having an area of 13 bighas and the complex houses other edifices other than the namghar. All these are maintained with donations given by devotees. The committee sponsors various cultural and social programs all year round as well.

Jorhat has many places to explore. The Jorhat Gymkhana Club is a famous tourist attraction and is one of the oldest sports clubs of India with world-class facilities.
Garh Ali is another place that you can visit when in Jorhat. It is a huge embankment that was built by the Ahom kings. Hoollongapar Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary is a must-visit for all wildlife enthusiasts.
GETTING THERE
Dhekiakhowa Bornamghar is located very close to National Highway 37. It is around 15 km east from the town of Jorhat and the site enjoys good connectivity via state and local buses. From Jorhat Airport, you can avail the rental cars to reach Dhekiakhowa Bornamghar.From nearby towns and cities, you can take a car along the NH 37 to reach this tourist spot.
BEST TIME TO VISIT
The best time to visit this namghar is during the winter. Winters set in from end of October and continues till end of March. The weather is pleasant during this time with scanty rainfall or no rainfall at all.
