The beautiful hotel Elgin Nor-Khill has been restoring its original grandeur since 1932, when it was built by the King of Sikkim 'Chogyal' around a beautiful garden amid the magnificent mountains and elegant valleys of Sikkim. The "Not-Khill" translate to the "house of jewels," which is referred to the natural wealth such as the mountains, valleys, flowers, fruits, trees, etc. The palatial property has earlier served royal guesthouse to the Heads of States and Dignitaries, who enjoyed the elegance and grace of the Kings era in Sikkim. The best part of the hotel is its interior, which is combined with etchings of G.Douglas, lithographs of Daniell, furniture made with Burma teak, oak floor boards & panelling, crackling fireplaces, candle-lit tables, and more.
